A teenager wanted for attempted murder in the armed robbery of a Wayne County convenience store is now behind bars.
Ervin Lee Waters, 19, is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Kidnapping, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Breaking and or Entering.
Waters was arrested Thursday at a Mill Creek Court residence. Authorities found him in a back bedroom. He was taken to the Wayne County Jail where secured bond was set at $250,000.
The Handy Mart, 2495 US Highway 13 North was robbed July 11 around 11:00 p.m. by three unknown black male subjects. Deputies were called to assist the clerk who was trying to close and secure the store for the evening. Video verified the clerk’s claim three suspects approached from the left/south side of the store and forced him at gunpoint to re-enter the store. The clerk was further held at gunpoint while one of the subjects went behind the counter and took lottery tickets and tobacco products. The clerk was shot during an escape attempt.
Authorities continue to search for a second suspect, Tyquellas Jaire Thompson.
