A murder suspect accused in a fatal shooting in Wayne County is now in jail without bond after being arrested in Duplin County Monday.

Omar Guajardo Acuna, 32, of Faison was arrested in Warsaw after detectives with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office went to Duplin County and teamed up with authorities there. After a briefing, authorities went to 714 Revelle Road and identified themselves. An occupant of the residence, Patrick White, came outside and met with law enforcement. He told officers another person named Wilburn was inside the home.

White allowed investigators into his house and once inside they found Acuna in a bed. According to reports from the Wayne Couny Sheriff’s Office, Acuna then grabbed a .45 caliber handgun from under his pillow. The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team immediately stopped the threat and Acuna was taken into custody without incident. The weapon was also seized and is being held as evidence.

Meanwhile, White, 34, was charged with Harboring a Fugitive from Justice and Accessory after the Fact to Murder. White was taken to the Duplin County Detention Center where bond was set at $50,000.

The Detective Division of both the Wayne and Duplin County Sheriff’s Offices, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Drug Squad and Special Response Team and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task Force all were a part of the operation.

Acuna is accused of the May 7th killing Adam Vasquez, 47. The murder happened at 271 Zion Church Road, Mount Olive.
