Goldsboro Police Officers from D-Shift responded to the Serena Inn on Corporate Drive to investigate a complaint of a strong chemical odor coming from one of the rooms.

The Officers’ investigation led them to room 219 where three of the room’s occupants were in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine. The room was seized by Police and portions of the motel were evacuated due to the inherent risks associated with the methamphetamine “cooking” process.

Law enforcement personnel from the Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad and the State Bureau of Investigation later responded to continue the investigation and dismantle components of the meth-lab.

Personnel from the Goldsboro Fire Department also responded.
